What are leaf cutters?

Leaf cutters are a prevalent species of ant that lives in the rainforests of Central and South America. A colony of these ants can harvest as much vegetation in a day as a large herbivore such as an elephant. However they don't eat the vegetation, instead they take it back to their nest where use it to farm a special fungus. The relatively complex lifestyle of these ants makes the perfect setting for a challenging board game.

Gameplay Overview

The basis of gameplay in Leaf Cutters is your ants and your action cards. In an ant colony size is everything. The size of an ant determines its role in the colony. Smaller ants are better at farming and caring for young, while larger ants are better for harvesting and defending. In Leaf Cutters you players will choose how many of each kind of ant to include in their colony and they will carefully assign action cards to their various ants. Each card will be more or less useful depending on the ant's size and other attributes. Additionally players will have to manage their nest of fungus farms and compete for resources on the game board.
